Congratulations to the Green School Committee (5th & 6th Classes) who had their assessment visit today from Suzanne Tinney (An Taisce representative). The Committee were interviewed about the work that has been ongoing in school since September 2012. As you know, we are working for our third Green Flag, the theme of which is 'Water'. The children gave thorough, detailed and comprehensive answers and were able to competently demonstrate that they have not only been keeping up all the previous work on the former Green Flag themes, but that they have also been implementing measures to reduce water consumption in school. The interview lasted well over an hour and given the excellent responses of the children, I am very hopeful that we are well on our way to earning our third flag. The success of our application will not be known until May and between now and then we have some more work to do, some of which will involve work at home.
So again, well done to the Committee for their excellent effort and preparation, particularly this week when they are very, very busy with projects, plays and singing!
Christmas Party
This year's Christmas Party will be held in school on Monday 16th December. All children are welcome.
Christmas Jumper Day
Thursday 19th December is 'Christmas' jumper day when the children may swap their uniform sweatshirts for a Christmas jumper. (For anyone fortunate enough not to have a 'lovely' jumper, a tinsel necklace, Santa hat or appropriate Christmas coloured top will do instead - please do not buy anything especially for this day....we just want to have a little festive fun before the holidays!)
