Lots of thank yous......

Carol Service

Thank you to everyone who helped with preparations for the tea at the Carol Service and to those who helped serve and clean up.  Your help was much appreciated

Thank you also to everyone who came along to watch the children.  We hope you enjoyed the children's singing and performing.  They had worked very hard in a very short space of time to prepare for last night and did themselves proud.

Thank you to Ezra for his help with the lights in the church and to Nigel for the use of his sound equipment.

Christmas Party

Thank you to everyone who helped with the Christmas Party on Wednesday night.  The children had a great time and were delighted with the presents from Santa.  Thank you to Santa for coming along at this very busy time of year and we hope he will pass on his thanks to his very industrious elves for helping get the presents ready for the party.  We also thank Stephen McElhinney for providing the music and entertaining the children.

Photographs

I was too busy to take any photographs at the Carol Service but would love some photographs for the website.  If anyone would like theirs included, please email them to me at the school email address robertsonns@hotmail.com

Titanic Presentation
Picture
We thank Robert Anderson and Alex for presenting our school with a scaled model of the 'Titanic'.  They have been working on this since February and have very kindly presented it to school to mark the centenary of the sinking of the Titanic.  Hopefully it will be on show in school soon - make time to come in and see it.

Pictured here are the oldest and youngest girls in our school.

Other pages...

Please take time to have a look the children's pages -  Mrs Gourley's room and Miss Bustard's room  There are lots of lovely photographs there of the work the children have been doing.

Back to School

School will open again on Monday 7th January.
Finally....

I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  Thank you for all your help and support in 2012.

Cold Weather

Hopefully there will be no disruptive weather this year, but as a precaution please take time to read the following.
  • We will make every effort to ensure that school is open for the children, regardless of the severity of the weather.  Please assume that school will be open unless you are informed otherwise.
  • Text messaging will be the main point of contact with parents but please also keep an eye on the school website and listen to local radio.  Please make sure that we have an up to date mobile number for you.
  • It may be necessary to delay the opening time for school - you will be notified by text message as early as possible if this is the case.
  • Most staff members have long journeys to make in the mornings and may be delayed by the weather too, so please make sure that someone is in school before leaving children at the gate.
  • I have no input with regard to the school buses.  The decision not to drive is made by the drivers themselves.  McGloin's hope to make contact with myself and Aveen McGuinness if the bus is not running.
  • If you are unable to make the journey safely at your normal time, please let us know.  I am keen that every effort will be made to get children to school, albeit later than normal.
  • Please make sure that the children are bringing warm coats, hats and gloves to school. The playground can be very cold.

Ulster-Scots Play

Well done to the children in 3rd - 6th Classes for their excellent performance last Friday afternoon. They had worked very hard for the past few weeks.  I would also like to thank Breda, Stephanie, Lucy and Gary from the 'Class Acts Theatre' Group for the work they did with the children and also to the Ulster-Scots Agency for funding this project.  For those who were unable to attend, there should be a video copy available soon.

An Ghrianán

We will be visiting 'An Ghrianán' Theatre in Letterkenny on Monday 17th December.  If you have not already sent your money, please do so as soon as possible.

Christmas Party

The Parent Teacher Association will be holding a Christmas Party for the children on Wednesday 19th December.

Carol Service

The Carol Service will take place in Drumholm Parish Church on Thursday 21st December at 7 p.m.

Last Day of Term

School will close for the Christmas holidays on Friday 21st December.  The new term begins at 9.20 a.m. on Monday 7th January.

Folens Annuals

If you would like to order a Christmas annual, please return your order and money by Tuesday 4th December.

School Photographs

Please return school photograph money by Friday 7th December.  After this date, all photographs will have to be returned directly to County Photographs.

World War 1/Ulster-Scots Performance

The performance of 'Wae a heart an' a half' will take place in school at 4.00 p.m. on Friday 7th December.  Therefore, on Friday the children from 3rd to 6th class will stay after school for rehearsal until the show.  We are expecting the show to be finished at 4.45 p.m.  All parents, grandparents, friends and neighbours are welcome to attend. The children have been practising very hard and would appreciate a good audience.

Refreshments for Carol Service

Please provide the following refreshments for after the Carol Service:
  • 2 dozen tray bakes
  • Something for the children’s table eg. sweets/ bars/crisps/diluted juice.

Donations can be sent into school any time between now and Thursday 20th December.  School will also be opened between 6.30 p.m. and 6.45 p.m. on the evening of the carol service.

Any help you can give with setting up the tables etc. on Thursday at 2.00 p.m. would be much appreciated as would help with serving and cleaning up at night.

Strictly Come Dancing

Well done to the girls who took part in the Strictly Come Dancing Show in Harvey's Point on Saturday night.  The photographs are in the Gallery.
