This year's fundraising quiz will be held in Ballintra Hall on Saturday 15th November at 8 p.m. Your support for those fundraising on our behalf would be much appreciated.
Ballintra Community Centre Whist Drive
We would like to thank most sincerely the players in the Community Centre for donating €500 to our school funds. This was raised at a recent Whist Drive.
Credit Union Art Competition
Well done to one of our senior students who won a prize in this year's Art Fest competition organised by the Credit Union.
We had a talk about Water Safety in school on Wednesday. All children learned how to be safe around water. We thank Sarah for her fun and informative talk. The children were awarded certificates and this work forms part of the 'Aquatics' strand of the P.E. curriculum.
History Workshop
The children took part in an interactive history workshop last week. The theme was 'The Vikings' with particular emphasis on Brian Boru and the Battle of Clontarf in 1014. This year is the 1000th anniversary of the Battle of Clontarf and some children in the Senior Room enjoyed playing the main characters in the story. We thank Patsy Cavanagh for organising this.
We are very pleased to have Terry visit us on Tuesday mornings. Terry is working with the children on improving their soccer and basketball skills.
Science Show
We thank Mr Hegarty from the Abbey Vocational School for inviting us to a Science Show in the St. John Bosco Centre last week. The children in 5th and 6th Class had a great time watching the interactive and fun experiments. They look forward to having the opportunity to show these to you later in the year.
We are delighted to welcome Reverend Ian Henderson as a regular visitor on Thursday mornings. The children enjoy the variety of activities, stories and messages presented to them. Thank you to all those who regularly visit us.
You might have spotted us walking up and down the street in Ballintra on Wednesday. As part of their art and local history work, the children were using their iPads and phones to take photographs of the local area.
