Unihoc

Our sincere thanks to Muriel and Ezra for organising our wonderful afternoon of Unihoc and treating everyone to a cooked lunch. It was a great way to spend the afternoon and we look forward to using the sponsor money to buy P.E. and playground equipment. We also thank those friends, parents and grandparents who helped prepare and serve the food and drink.

Thank you also to Michala, who spent the afternoon with 5th and 6th Class on Thursday, baking apple crumble with all the apples left over from harvesting. Apple crumble and ice-cream was a lovely way to end our Unihoc event and get the weekend off to a perfect start...yum!

Library Trip

1st - 3rd Class had a great morning at Bundoran library last Thursday.  They were taking part in an interactive Science Show called 'How to train a dragon'.

Condolences

We extend our sympathy to the McGuinness family following their recent bereavement.

Dancing

iBop...great fun dancing not once but twice last Tuesday. Some traditional Irish folk dances in the morning and then some super energetic pop and modern dance routines with Teresa from the Energy Hub in the afternoon - all part of P.E. and also work for our Active Flag.

Fundraising Quiz & Sheets

We thank Nan Leslie for organising this year's Quiz Sheets.  We will shortly be sending home a number of sheets for each family to sell.  Completed sheets may be returned to school or directly to Nan.  This year's Quiz will be held on Saturday 12th November.

Cheerios Breakfast Morning

Cheerio Cheerios! It didn't take long for us to finish off our breakfast on Wednesday morning. Thank you everyone. We raised €133 for Childline...and we only had two spills, one broken bowl and a carpet that needed hoovering.

Brownhall Visit

Friday's classroom..the forest...under a blue sky and October sunshine. We spent the entire day outside, tramping through woodland, paddling in the river and jumping in muddy puddles. We fished and we foraged. We named bugs and named trees. We put away our books and put on our wellies. We had the most perfect day - our thanks to Paul, Jonathon and Alan for helping us fish, to Shailagh for sharing her wonderful knowledge of trees, to Keith Corcoran for his ghost stories and ensuring that nobody will sleep tonight, to Jenny and Mr Barnett for helping and finally to Mrs Hamilton of Brownhall Demense for her hospitality and facilitating our visit. If only all Fridays could be like this...

Cheerios Breakfast Morning

Although we are always trying hard to raise funds for ourselves, we believe that it is important to support other causes from time to time.  We will be holding our 'Cheerios Breakfast Together' morning on Wednesday 12th October.  Cereal and milk will be provided for the children in return for a donation of €2 (or whatever you would like to donate). Money raised will be donated to Childline.  The children will need to bring their own bowls and spoons!

Unihoc

We look forward to seeing everyone in the Community Centre at 12.30 p.m. on Thursday 14th October.

C.E.F.

We are delighted to have Brian Donaghy from C.E.F. rejoining us on Thursdays.  We have missed his lively guitar and fun stories.

Carol Service

I can't believe I am actually typing this already! The provisional date for this year's Carol Service is Wednesday 21st December (which is the evening before we close for Christmas holidays).  We will confirm this as soon as possible.

iBop

We will be joined by Teresa from the Energy Hub on Tuesdays.  She will be running iBop dance lessons for all classes.

Harvest Thanksgiving Service

Well done to the children from 1st to 6th Class for singing and performing so well at this morning's Harvest Thanksgiving Service. We also thank all those parents who ensured their children were present and came along to support their children and the school.  On display in the church was a selection of the fruit and vegetables grown in the school organic garden.  Mrs Gourley and Miss McGinley did a great job of arranging the display and as always we thank Mr Barnett, without whom we would not be able to keep our garden going.

National Tree Day

We will be celebrating National Tree Day this year by visiting Brownhall Demense on Friday 7th October (1st - 6th Class).  We are very grateful to Mrs Hamilton for accommodating us.  We are lucky enough to have Shailagh visit again this year.  You might remember that she accompanied the Middle Room to Murvagh Forest last year for a Woodland Exploration activity.  We are also going to be taking part in some fishing and minibeast activities with Paul Gallagher, Jonathan Mitchell and Mr Barnett and we thank them very much for their help in arranging this trip.  We are greatly looking forward to this outing and are hoping that the rain stays away.  The children will need wellington boots and a waterproof coat.

Sponsored Unihoc

This year's Sponsored Unihoc will take place on Thursday 13th October from 12.30 p.m. until 3.00 p.m.  in the Community Centre.  We thank Muriel and Ezra for offering to run the event for us this year again and hope that despite the change of time, many of you will be able to join us for at least part of the event.

Science Show

The children in the Middle Room will be visiting Bundoran Library for a Science Show on Thursday 13th October.

Co. Donegal Schools' Service

5th Class and 6th Class enjoyed their outing to Ramelton Parish Church on Thursday 29th September where they joined with over 600 other children from the other 30 schools in Donegal which are under Church of Ireland or Presbyterian management.  We say well done to Aimee Anderson for reading a 'Thank You' prayer on behalf of our school.

Donation to school

We wish to thank sincerely Ivan Diver and those who organised a fundraising coach trip in the summer and donated €495 to school funds.  This money will be used to purchase additional sports equipment for P.E. lessons and for active playtimes.
