St. Patrick's Day Parade Thank you to everyone for the wonderful support and effort that went into making the parade so memorable for the children. I think we all looked great in costume and hopefully we have raised awareness of the fundraising night. There are some photos in the Gallery and there have also been some in the Democrat and Post - I hope you managed to see them. Easter Egg Competition
Eggs need to be in school on Tuesday 24th March. Bag Collection Thank you for all the bags of clothing for the clothing collection. Road Safety We will be taking part in a Road Safety Workshop on Thursday 26th March. This is part of our work for our 'Travel' Green Flag. We will be meeting at the grassy area beside the Methodist and Presbyterian Church at 2.30 p.m.
Children should arrive in costume. I cannot predict the weather but please make sure the children are warm enough. Tights and lots of layers under dresses would be a good idea. Please be aware that there will be lots of traffic and other people so take care. Parents who are joining us on the walk will walk behind the children. Once the parade is over, the children are free to go but please make sure to tell one of the teachers that you are going (we want to make sure everyone is safe and accounted for). If anyone has any questions ring us in school on Monday or email the school email address on Tuesday morning. Thank you all for your support! We had a big dress up and practice on Friday morning which was great fun, Thank you also to Francess and Mark for coming in and teaching the children some 1920s dance moves. Hopefully the rain will stay away and the children will enjoy the experience of participating in a parade. We look forward to seeing you all there. More photos in the Gallery. Easter Egg Competition
It's time again for our Easter Egg Competition. The imaginative and artistic response last time was fantastic and we hope that this year's eggs will be equally wonderful. Eggs will need to be in school by Tuesday 24th March for judging. Putting on the Ritz, Cabaret Show Update Just a quick update on what is happening. Ticket Sales We hope the ticket sales are going well. Ticket money is due in by Friday 6th March. A huge thank you to all the parents who went ticket selling in Supervalu at the weekend. We need more volunteers for ticket selling on Saturday 4th April in Kee's of Laghey and bag packing on Saturday 2nd May in Supervalu. Thank you to those parents who have already put their names forward but we still need more help. So,if you can spare an hour or two of your time on either of these two dates, please contact us as soon as possible. Dancing Our intrepid dancers are continuing to practise at least once a week - I am told these practices are going very well. Thank you to everyone taking part. P.T.A. Meeting Our next P.T.A. Meeting is on Thursday 12th March. Please try to attend if you can. St. Patrick's Day Parade We hope to have a dress rehearsal in school on Wednesday 12th March. Please speak to us if you need any help or advice with costumes - we have a big costume box in school and am sure we can help anyone who is stuck for ideas. Arrangements for the parade itself will be sent home shortly - children from Junior Infants to 3rd will need a responsible adult to accompany them. Animals in Need We had a lovely visit from the volunteers who run 'Animal in Need'. Thank you to everyone for their very generous sponsorship. The children had a very informative talk from the volunteers but they were no match for Fluffball, the kitten, who was the star attraction. World Book Day We have had a great response to the Bookmark Competition. The entries are displayed in the hall. Please make time to call in and have a look. We will be having a huge book themed Table Quiz to mark the occasion and will be doing plenty of book themed activities throughout the day. The children will be receiving a book token which they can exchange for a free book in any book shop or which can be used as part of the cost of a book. Heart to Hand Thank you to those who contributed to the Heart to Hand Appeal this year.
